The Story Behind Chocosis: From Software Developer to Cookie Entrepreneur

Hi, I'm Harshita, the founder of Chocosis.

If you had asked me a few years ago whether I would be running a dessert business, I probably would have laughed. My career was in Information Technology and for over nine years, I worked as a software developer.

But life has a funny way of leading us down unexpected paths.

A Passion That Started Long Before Chocosis

For as long as I can remember, baking was the thing I turned to when I needed to decompress. A stressful week at work? I'd bake cookies. A friend's birthday? Brownies. A quiet Sunday with nothing on the calendar? Time to experiment with something new.

My friends and family were the happy (and very willing) recipients of everything I made. They'd tell me I should sell these, that I was sitting on something special. I always laughed it off. I never thought of it as a business. It was simply something I loved.

The Unexpected Turning Point

Everything changed when I was laid off from my last job.

Like many unexpected life moments, it was challenging at first. But it also gave me an opportunity to think about what I truly enjoyed and what I wanted to build for myself. There was always a quiet part of me that lit up differently in the kitchen than it ever did at a desk.

Cookies and brownies were always my favorite desserts and the idea of creating a business around something I genuinely loved felt exciting. What started as a small idea soon became Chocosis.

Why Everything at Chocosis Is Egg-Free

There's something personal behind every Chocosis recipe that most people don't know: I'm allergic to eggs.

For most bakers, eggs are automatic - they're in nearly every cookie and brownie recipe you'll ever find. But for me, eating out or buying from most bakeries meant either settling for something dry and disappointing, or going without entirely.

So I started creating my own.

When I launched Chocosis, I made a decision that every cookie and brownie would be completely egg-free.

Not because I wanted customers to settle for an alternative - but because I wanted to prove that egg-free desserts can be just as delicious as traditional ones.

In fact, many customers are surprised when they learn our treats are egg-free. They still have the rich flavor, soft texture, chewy centers, fudgy brownies and indulgent experience you'd expect from any great dessert.

The goal has never been to make "good for egg-free."

Starting with Farmer's Markets

Like many small businesses, Chocosis didn't begin with a storefront.

I started by participating in local farmer's markets, meeting customers face-to-face, sharing samples and introducing people to our cookies and brownies one bite at a time.

Those early markets taught me so much. They helped me understand what customers loved, which flavors stood out and how powerful a simple conversation can be.

Even today, you'll still find Chocosis at select markets and community events. They're a big part of our journey and a wonderful way to connect with customers.

Growing One Cookie at a Time

As more people discovered Chocosis, I launched our website to make ordering easier and to reach even more dessert lovers.

Since then, we've continued to grow, creating new flavors, experimenting with unique combinations and building a community of customers who share our love for great desserts.

From classic favorites to creative flavors inspired by desserts from around the world, every product is made with care, quality ingredients and a lot of passion.

Looking Ahead

What started as a hobby, and later became an opportunity after an unexpected career change, has grown into something I'm incredibly grateful for.

Every order, every market visit, every social media comment and every returning customer reminds me why I started Chocosis in the first place.

As Chocosis continues to grow, so do my dreams for it. One day, I'd love to welcome customers into a cozy Chocosis storefront - a place filled with the smell of freshly baked cookies, warm brownies and the simple joy that great desserts bring.
